This week in Texas Oncor announced that its customers now can use the Green Button on its website — joining many other utilities.
The Green Button industry standard provides energy usage data in a consistent format for energy users, so they can load it into a variety of apps now being developed. This can help customers make smart energy decisions by projecting energy savings, estimating how adding solar might impact their energy bill, evaluate the economics of getting an electric vehicle and more.
To date, utilities in 17 states and the nation’s capital have implemented (or committed to implementing) Green Button: Arkansas, California, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C.
