Outage and Restoration Event Management and Reporting
The Outage and Restoration Event Management & Reporting module links AMI data collection systems with the utility’s outage management system (OMS). It enables the creation and use of “Bellwether Meters” for high-value and differentiated service points.
Upon receipt of an outage or restoration event, the Outage module validates and stores events in the MUDR, translates AMI event data into records appropriate for the OMS, and filters events for delivery to the OMS based on configurable parameters, including a “STORM” mode for large outages. In STORM mode, only those devices tagged as “bellwether” devices are forwarded to the OMS.
For restoration management, EnergyIP™ provides a standard interface for utility applications to request power status—available by meter ID, transformer ID, or service point. Upon request, the module determines which technology is in use and initiates a query with the AMI data collection system. IT offers one of several responses to the requesting application, such as power on or off, unknown power status, communication failure, or unknown ID/reference.
Through integration with the utility’s outage management system and CIS, EnergyIP automatically clears “Single Lights Out” calls. Outage module reports include momentary outage alerts, meter-transformer mismatches, service points with outage but no power restore, and power outage/restoration summaries.
