Deployment Planning and Logistics

Deployment Planning and Logistics (DPL) supports the installation of a large-scale AMI system. DPL generates detailed plans for network surveys and meter and network equipment installations. It enables the program team to produce a rolling 90-day installation plan with material and labor requirements, every 30 days. This streamlines the creation of daily installation schedules and facilitates efficient procurement. Schedules provide daily route-based meter exchange plans that avoid meter reading cycle dates, synchronize with AMI data collection network deployment, and align with deployment priorities. Materials shipping and receiving information, including meter “notice of shipment” and test records, update EnergyIP™ asset records and provision CIS meter asset records.

Following installation, DPL receives completed work order information from the Installation Management System (IMS) and updates CIS and other utility systems. It creates and tracks field orders for installations that require follow up and produces installation status reports.

DPL also automatically updates AMI data collection servers and verifies that devices are active and online. Then it reconciles meter provisioning and installation records and reports discrepancies or exceptions—in some cases, initiating a field order.
