Oncor Electric Delivery (Oncor ED) operates the largest distribution and transmission system in Texas, providing power to three million electric delivery points over more than 100,000 miles of distribution and 14,000 miles of transmission lines.
Oncor ED purchased eMeter’s EnergyIP™ as the foundation for building and integrating its advanced metering infrastructure (AMI). The company uses EnergyIP automated processes and applications for installation, operation, and maintenance of its AMI and its supporting data collection technologies, including BPL. eMeter technology is the foundation Oncor ED’s AMI IT strategy and has enabled the company to widen its range of product offerings.
eMeter supports the meter read-to-bill cycle for Oncor ED’s customers and is integrated with six sources of meter data including TWACS®, Current Technologies BPL, MV-90, American Innovations, and Hunt Technologies as well as manual meter reads. EnergyIP consolidates, validates, synchronizes data for Oncor ED’s billing and CIS systems. The eMeter platform also automates the utility’s service order management and field deployment processes and provides the capability for future integration with outage management, distribution engineering, retailer portals, and other information systems.
The eMeter platform monitors critical AMI business processes and generates dashboard reporting of key performance indicators to ensure effective deployment and operation of the Oncor ED’s AMI infrastructure. It also integrates with legacy applications, providing a common interface independent of the AMI and field metering systems—enabling information access for utility users, customers, retailers, and partners.
