Burbank Water and Power (BWP) has been providing water and electricity to Burbank residents and businesses since 1913, and currently has approximately 88,000 meter points. BWP has a proud tradition of exploring new technologies and opportunities and investing in forward-thinking projects to benefit their community. Keeping in line with this tradition, Burbank sought a MDMS to support current and future applications and business processes as enabled by the advanced metering infrastructure (AMI), system monitor and load control programs.
EnergyIP’s flexible, service-oriented architecture (SOA), allowing BWP to seamlessly integrate the latest technologies while supporting both current and future applications and business processes, was a major factor in BWP’s selection of EnergyIP in 2009. EnergyIP will also support load control programs that improve BWP’s energy management and conservation abilities by delivering timely and reliable interval data from electric meter reads, which will enable enhanced decision making with regards to load control. EnergyIP will also allow controllers to promptly verify whether or not usage has changed in response to the load control events.
