Umetriq is a wholly owned subsidiary of GASAG, the largest gas network operator and supplier in the larger Berlin area with more than two million gas customers. Umetriq is positioned to act as independent metering service provider to the recently de-regulated German metering market. Umetriq is the sister company of BAS, held by GASAG, and acts as metering service provider for legacy metering for GASAG as well as other customers.
EnergyIP will be implemented as the central meter data management system interfacing via an external market gateway to other market partners in the de-regulated German metering market. Within Umetriq, EnergyIP will interface to a workforce and an asset management system as well as to the Siemens AMIS transaction server, which is the head-end system to the MUC/SML smart meters (read via GPRS). The system is designed to scale to five million meters which will be read within a specific daily window.
