SAN MATEO, CA. May 12, 2008. eMeter Corporation, a provider of meter data management (MDM) software to electric, gas, and water utilities, announced today that EDMI Ltd. has agreed to participate in its IntegratedMDM program. eMeter announced the launch of its IntegratedMDM Program with six other market-leading Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) companies last month.
“The resounding participation of leading AMI companies in eMeter’s IntegratedMDM program highlights the value of close cooperation and future interoperability between an independent MDM and multiple AMI technologies,” said Larsh Johnson, eMeter CTO. “Utilities selecting a participating AMI technology can be assured that the technology will operate with eMeter’s EnergyIP™ MDM now and in the future.”
This program formalizes the long-term working relationship that eMeter has enjoyed with these industry leaders. Under the program, EDMI independently agrees to cooperate in the integration of its AMI technology with the EnergyIPTM software.
“This program was initiated to assure that eMeter and participating AMI technology companies will support utilities’ choice of new and exciting AMI capabilities as they are developed,” said Cree Edwards, Chairman and CEO of eMeter. “This is extremely important as the AMI capabilities evolve. Utilities selecting AMI solutions can be fully confident that our products will work well together and meet or exceed performance requirements.”
The eMeter IntegratedMDM program consists of the following elements:
-
Interoperability. The parties ensure that eMeter’s MDM will interoperate with the participating AMI technologies.
-
Independence of MDM and AMI Systems. The parties recognize the advantage that an open, independent MDM offers utilities that can select from the participant’s offerings now and in the future.
-
Integration Planning. The program includes ongoing development cooperation and release planning between eMeter and the AMI companies covering existing and future functionality.
“We are pleased to be a charter member of the eMeter IntegratedMDM program and believe that eMeter’s EnergyIP software is the industry leader,” said EDMI General Manager, Doug Rose. “EnergyIP excels as an MDM and, importantly, EnergyIP architecture supports and complements our present and future feature set ensuring that our customers will receive the full value of our AMI solution.”
eMeter developed EnergyIP specifically to support the installation, operation, and management of AMI systems and the data they generate. eMeter’s software is a multi-vendor AMI integration platform built upon an open Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) incorporating real-time messaging technology. Furthermore, EnergyIP enables support for a wide range of growing Smart Grid functions, ranging from interval metering to Home Area Networks (HANs).
