Warren M. Weiss
Warren is a General Partner at Foundation Capital and focuses primarily on investments in emerging software companies-both licensed and software as a service-as well as those in the Cleantech industry. Warren currently serves on the boards of eMeter, Guardian Analystics, InterAct, MarkMonitor, nGenera, Purfresh, Quantivo, Rearden Commerce, SilkRoad Technologies Inc., and Silver Spring Networks.
Catching emerging technologies and superstar entrepreneurs early is Warren’s passion. His close ties with leading universities and research labs give him a window into innovations in their purest form, and he cherishes the chance to work with the smartest minds in business, whether first-timers or Nobel-Prize winners. His involvement with on-demand software companies and clean tech began years before investing in those areas became a mainstream event.
Warren joined Foundation Capital in 2002 with more than 25 years experience in the software industry, including time as president and CEO of four public and private software companies. Most recently, he was president and CEO of Asera, a real-time software solutions provider.
Previously, Warren served as president and CEO of Prism Solutions during the company’s transition from data warehousing tools provider to business intelligence application deliverer. Prior to that, Warren was also president of SQRIBE Technologies (now Hyperion) and earlier, president and CEO of SMI. Warren has held numerous other senior executive positions at Next Software (Apple), Continuum (Computer Sciences Corporation) and Dun & Bradstreet Software. Warren holds a BS from Western Illinois University.
Jim Goetz
Jim is a Partner at Sequoia Capital focusing on cloud, mobile and enterprise investments. Jim currently serves on the board of Admob, Appirio, Barracuda, Clearwell, eMeter, Jive, MetaSwitch, Nimble, Palo Alto and Widgetbox. Prior to joining Sequoia Capital in 2004, Jim served as a General Partner at Accel Partners where he led the investments in Entrisphere (ERIC), Peribit (JNPR), RGB, and Rhapsody (BRCD) and was part of the team responsible for BroadJump (MOTV), Timetra (ALA) and Topspin (CSCO). Earlier, Jim was a Founder of VitalSigns (LU) where he went on to serve as VP/GM of the VitalSoft division of Lucent. Prior to VitalSigns, Jim was the Vice President of Network Management for Bay Networks. Prior to Bay and Synoptics, he held various product and marketing positions at AT&T, AT&T Bell Labs, and Digital Equipment. Jim has a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University
Craig Conway
Craig Conway has enjoyed one of the most distinguished and successful careers in the technology industry. He has been recognized as one of the Top 25 Managers by BusinessWeek magazine, Ten Most Influential People in High Technology by Computer Business Review, and Fifty Most Powerful People in Networking by NetworkWorld magazine.
As President and Chief Executive Officer, Craig has led several technology companies to success including most recently PeopleSoft. Craig joined PeopleSoft, an ailing provider of enterprise software, in 1999 and began one of the most dramatic turnarounds in the technology industry. His vision to develop the industry’s first pure internet architecture, determination to expand into new products and markets, and intense focus on execution drove PeopleSoft to become the world’s second largest provider of business software. In 2002 Fortune magazine named PeopleSoft the Second Most Admired Company, and Forbes magazine named PeopleSoft one of Five Overachieving Companies.
Craig has served as President and CEO of TGV Software, One Touch Systems, and PeopleSoft. He has also held executive management positions at a variety of leading technology companies including Executive Vice President at Oracle Corporation. In addition to eMeter, Craig currently serves on the board of directors of Salesforce.com, Pegasystems, and Kazeon Systems. Recently, Conway was appointed to AMD’s board of directors.
Craig is a cum laude graduate of the State University of New York at Brockport where he received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and Mathematics.
Cree Edwards, Chairman of the Board
Cree A. Edwards is a founder and Chairman of eMeter Corporation. Earlier, Cree co-founded CellNet Data Systems, Inc., an industry leader in providing advanced electricity metering data and communications to utilities (now owned by Schlumberger). His many roles at CellNet included serving as Vice President-Sales and Marketing, Vice President-Business Development, and Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Cree retired from CellNet in 1997 following CellNet’s IPO, in which it raised over $100 million. Cree previously worked for Octel Communications Corporation (acquired by Lucent) and General Electric. Cree has a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, Davis.
Gary Bloom
Gary Bloom is the CEO and President of eMeter Corporation. Gary is the former vice chairman and president of Symantec Corporation, where he led the company’s line of business organizations and the company’s corporate development efforts. Bloom joined Symantec through the company’s merger with VERITAS Software. As chairman, president and chief executive officer of VERITAS, Bloom successfully led the company to become a global leader in storage software and a leading provider of software and services to enable utility computing. Under Bloom’s leadership, VERITAS grew its revenue to $2.04 billion in 2004.
Before joining VERITAS, Bloom held senior executive positions at Oracle, where he most recently served as executive vice president. During his 14-year career at Oracle, Bloom led Oracle’s database business, worldwide marketing, support, education, and alliance organizations, and was responsible for mergers and acquisitions.
More recently, Bloom was a consultant of TPG, a leading global private investment firm and serves on the board of directors of Taleo Corporation and BMC Software. Bloom is also an active volunteer with California Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 3, a Department of Homeland Security FEMA disaster response team, the San Mateo County Sheriff Search and Rescue team and Rock Medicine, a volunteer organization providing emergency medical services at concerts in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Bloom earned his bachelor’s degree in computer science from California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo, where he currently serves on the President’s Cabinet and is the chairman of the Board of the Cal Poly Foundation.
Larsh Johnson
Larsh M. Johnson is a founder and Chief Technology Officer of eMeter Corporation. Earlier, Larsh co-founded CellNet Data Systems, where he was Chief Technical Officer. Larsh provided CellNet’s technology vision, and patented the resulting system that incorporated low cost wireless spread spectrum technology, industry-leading application of narrow-band wireless communications, and sophisticated client-server applications. Previously, Larsh was Director of Product Development at Interactive Communications Corporation, a video systems company. He was also Engineering Manager at Digital Optics Corporation and an electrical engineer at Systems Control Inc. Larsh has a B.S. and an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.
