Chris King, Chief Regulatory Officer, eMeter to brief the US Congressional Delegation at the United Nations Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen

WHAT:
Chris King will be briefing Speaker Pelosi and the other US congressmen and women in Copenhagen during the United Nations Climate Change Conference on Friday, December 18, 2009. The goal is to discuss the importance of maintaining the United States’ Smart Grid leadership position in the global marketplace and explaining some of the potential consequences the United States may face if the right processes and initiatives are not put in place now.

WHO:
The Demand Response and Smart Grid Coalition (DRSG) is the trade association for companies that provide products and services in the areas of demand response, smart meters and smart grid technologies. DRSG works to educate and provide information to policymakers, utilities, the media, the financial community and stakeholders on how demand response and smart grid technologies such as smart meters can help modernize our electricity system and provide customers with new information and options for managing their electricity use. DRSG members include IBM, Google, Whirlpool and Honeywell.

Chris King, Chief Regulatory Officer at eMeter and Founder of DRSG, is a nationally recognized authority on energy regulation and competitive energy markets. He is widely recruited by regulators and legislators to consult on technology issues in electric restructuring and grid management. Chris has testified before Congress and was instrumental in crafting State policies in California and Texas, the Energy Acts of 2005 and 2007, and the Smart Grid provision of the ARRA, all of which paved the way for advanced metering initiatives in the US.

  • Ensure that the US continues to deliver the cutting-edge technologies for the Smart Grid market, thereby maintaining the leadership position ahead of competitors in China and Europe
